As cable subscriptions drop so do regional sports networks. This is a follow-up to a post on 2/8, Is the Bally Sports Network relevant, or is it set for extinction? https://www.connectadtv.com/post/is-the-bally-sports-network-relevant-is-it-set-for-extinction-have-you-ever-heard-of-bally
I don't know about extinction but Bally Sports Network is headed for bankruptcy. Cable penetration is currently around 50%. That means regional sport Nets have lost a substantial amount of subscriptions. From the article attached http://bit.ly/3HZ6E4L Bally Sports Network has gone from 100 million homes to 67 million homes. People are cutting the cord and finding other ways to watch and follow their favorite teams.
I absolutely do not celebrate the loss of regional sports networks or any programming. In order for #CTV, #Streaming, #OTT To continue growing we need programming. It's important that we have choices. People smarter than me need to figure out how to be profitable in a new media paradigm.
