I have not been one to make New Year's resolutions but I have always made New Year's goals. We have all heard resolutions are meant to be broken, so I would instead I make a blueprint for myself to follow.
Typically I write down about 20+ different goals I want to accomplish. Some are long-term goals but most are day in and day out throughout the year. From year to year, some of my goals changed but very few. Once a quarter I go back and check all my goals just to hold myself accountable. 100% honesty, in past years, my goals have primarily revolved around business/professional with just a few for family, less for myself and nonexistent for friends.
The last few years (COVID) have been difficult for many. I personally lost a few friends to COVID and have seen some good people struggle. While COVID did not impact my immediate family, just like many people we have had challenges to deal with and many things to be grateful for, always count your blessings.
As we move through life our goals aspirations and desires change. This year it is reflected in my 2023 New Year's goals.
Rather than having a list of 20+ goals that I can check off the box once every 3 months, I am making my goal simple, something I can reflect on daily, public, and meaningful.
It's fairly simple I will ask myself daily
Did I do my best for my:
Family Clients Friends Myself
There is not necessarily an order to the above. It will be easy to implement because I have already been doing this for over a year. As I sat down to look forward to 2023 I decided to formalize the process and make this process public. This process would not have worked for me in my 20s or 30s but now that I am closer to 60 than 50 it's pretty easy.
Hopefully, this saves you time or at least gives you something to think about.
Best to you in 2023.
