Cable getting older, more expensive, harder to reach new movers & young adults

Cable getting older, more expensive, harder to reach new movers & young adults

My morning always starts with a cup of coffee and research. I have mentioned several times that finding accurate research relating to CTV and Streaming often requires looking at multiple reputable sources and defining the trends. Two of my go-to sources are Cord Cutters News and the Lichtman Research Group.

Yesterday Cord Cutters News published some interesting results from an October 4th Lichtman Research Group press release. The results were just as the headline of this post reads:

48% of new movers (last 12 months) don't have cable

63% of adults 18-34 have never had pay TV

The average age of pay TV subscribers is 49.3 The average age of subscribers to vMVPD (virtual cable companies like Hulu, Sling, Fubo, & Philo) is 40.8

The average pay TV subscriber spends $112.70 per month 5% higher than 2018

This is my opinion, people will not age in two buying cable. I have said it several times sooner or later, most video entertainment, programs, news, movies, and possibly sports will be streamed.

#CTV #Streaming #OTT always getting better for viewers and advertisers
