25 million US households have cut the cord since 2012, another 25 million+ households will cut the cord over the next 5 years. This is not bad news. Consumers may be the winners in the long run. Viewers have more choices than ever. They have new ways to consume their favorite programs and content. They may like the ease, the flexibility, savings...Advertisers and marketers will benefit from addressability and attribution.
Q1 2021 cable lost about 1,895,000 subscribers, a bit better (60,000 or 3.06%) than Q1 2020 when Cable lost about 1,955,000. According to the Leichtman Research Group, year over year losses continues to mount 4,790,000 subscribers, compared to a loss of about 5,125,000 over the prior year.
