I don't subscribe to Bally +, for those of you who don't know what it is it is the Regional Sports Network standalone streaming sports app. I think it is currently priced at $20 per month.
I have never watched it. Admittedly I do not know much or care much about Bally plus. What I do know is that it is not available on Hulu, Sling, or YouTube TV. I think they just did a distribution deal with Fubo TV. I have no idea if it's available on traditional cable because I have not had cable service in years. If Bally Sports is carried by Traditional cable, the revenue must be way down as cord-cutting has substantially decreased the number of subscribers.
A quick search of Bally's Sports Network shows that bankruptcy could be forthcoming. More than ever the media is shaken up. Not just traditional media, CTV | Streaming still has a lot to figure out.
I have said many times eventually most TV and entertainment as we know it will be streamed. Many articles I read say local broadcasts will hold onto news and sports. Looking at local news ratings I don't see 4 or 5 stations in any market surviving All news coverage alone.
I did a quick search for why is Bally Sports Network in trouble, here's the summary of the results. Overpriced, lack of distribution partners, poor streaming strategy, subscriber loss, high debt, cash flow ½ of 2022 Projection blackouts, better options.
Time will tell I hope something is figured out because I always say Extinction Is Forever.
#CTV #Streaming #OTT always getting better for local advertisers and viewers
