I confess—fundraising for MS is hard. People don’t see it, understand it, and are not moved to act the way they are with more visible causes. It’s hard to rally around something others don’t see or feel. That’s exactly why I post, advocate, and ride. If I don’t get involved, take action, and push forward, who will?
That irony isn’t lost on me. I have spent my career in Broadcast, Cable & Streaming- audio & video messages, influencing decisions, and making people feel something in just 30 seconds. I know the power of storytelling, the impact of the right imagery, the way a message can move someone to take action.
That’s the challenge with MS. It doesn’t come with a single, powerful image the kind that instantly compels donations or sparks national campaigns. Instead, it’s a silent battle—relentless, unpredictable, and life-altering. It doesn’t have the emotional pull or star power of other worthy causes like St. Jude’s, Shriners, Wounded Warriors, or Tunnel to Towers.
MS Affects More People Than You Think
More than 1,000,000 people in the U.S. live with MS—that’s 1 in every 300. It’s more common than most realize, yet it remains largely invisible.
Maybe you’ve even wondered, whatever happened to:
🟠 Selma Blair🟠 Christina Applegate🟠 Montel Williams🟠 Ann Romney🟠 Neil Cavuto
Unfortunately, this is only a short list of celebs with MS.
What MS Looks Like (Even If You Can’t See It) abbreviated list
🔹 Bone-deep fatigue – beyond exhaustion.
🔹 Numbness, burning, & tingling – striking randomly.
🔹 Muscle weakness & spasticity – turning movement into a challenge.
🔹 Balance & coordination issues – making walking difficult.
🔹 Heat sensitivity – worsening symptoms with even mild exertion.
🔹 Electric shock sensations – sudden, jolting pain.
🔹 Vision problems – blurred vision, pain, color distortion.
🔹 Brain fog – memory lapses, focus issues.
These symptoms steal independence, chip away at normalcy, and make everyday life an uphill battle. Truth MS gets overshadowed—not just by bigger charities with stronger marketing resources, but even by words that already have a firm definition and vivid imagery in people’s minds.
Nothing in my life has come easy—why should fundraising be any different? I don’t mind the challenge. I don’t mind the hard work. I will keep pushing forward, fueled by hope and the belief that there are compassionate, caring people like you who will help make a difference.
🚴 In March 2025, I’m riding for MS. 🚴
